About Me

Hello!

My name is Jennifer Smallwood and I live in beautiful and hot Columbia, South Carolina!

I will be starting my 9th year in education for the 2016-2017 school year! I cannot believe how fast time flies! I have taught kindergarten and first grade over the years but my favorite is kindergarten! I love being a child's first teacher!

I graduated from the University of South Carolina! GO GAMECOCKS!!!!!!!!!!! and I have my Master's degree from Columbia College!

When I am not teaching I adore spending time with my precious little family! I am married to my high school sweetheart, Drew. And we have two beautiful precious girls, Raegan and Ansley!  Both girls are my perfect blessings from God and I couldn't be more excited that God chose me to be their mommy! We are so blessed to have our precious girls!

I LOVE my little family and we love serving God in all that we do! We love to do things together and just spend quality time together! We love Gamecock football, the beach, and just relaxing together! My girls keeps us very busy! We also have two little dogs, Jackson and Diesel, who keep us entertained!

I also LOVE what I do! Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to become a teacher. No other career has ever crossed my mind! School was a haven for me as a child! I grew up in an abusive home and wanted nothing more than to stay at school FOREVER! All my teachers nurtured me and cared for me and I truly loved everything about school and knew that's what I wanted to be when I grew up! Therefore, I want to do the same for  my own students by creating a safe, nurturing, and loving environment in the classroom. I am a firm believer that if students love and enjoy where they are nothing will stop them from growing in all areas (academically, socially, emotionally, behaviorally)! I am blessed to be teaching at a Leader in Me school. Everyone is a leader and I love watching my kindergartners take on new leadership roles and use the 7 habits in ways I never thought possible!

I started a blog back in 2012 and have merged those posts with this blog. There isn't much here yet, but I plan to grow this blog and have a  place for parents and teachers to come to and see what's happening in our classroom! I hope that you will follow me on this  new journey.

BE BLESSED!
